Wine Profile
Wine Profile / Tasting Notes
Origini is straw-colored with green highlights that tend to disappear over the years from the harvest. The bouquet is intense and complex, featuring hints of elderflower, almond, and anise, along with fresh yellow-fleshed fruits and notes of sage and spearmint. On the palate it is supported by a savory acidity that eases the sip and lends gracefulness to the structure that gradually, over the years, thickens and intesifies somehow like the aromaticity that over time layers on notes of fruit in syrup, lemon peel, saffron and chamomile. A transversal wine: casual in summer, capable of accompanying territorial cuisine from coast to hinterland. Stainless steel with at least 12 months of batonnage and refined in the bottle for 6 months before release.
Vineyard Notes
Vineyard location: Giovanni Piercingly. South-west exposure at 420 meters above sea level. The soil type is "scheletro di arenarea" rich in clay, sand and lime mixed with calcareous matter.
Production Notes
Aged on its fine lees for at least 12 months with batonage, followed by 6 months in the bottle.
Winemaker Notes
This is the first wine I've ever produced and it was born just one month before my son who is represented in the label by the blue little stain at the end of the name.
Food & Wine Pairing
We want you to try a bottle of this now, preferably with some simply prepared shellfish, but come back for more. This is a wine you can drink now for its freshness, but it will age for a decade, gaining in complexity.
More Information
“Origini,” in only its third vintage has become one of the reference points for Verdicchio in the Marche. In fact, the Italian Wine Guide, Gambero Rosso, has given the 2018 “Origini” its prestigious “Tre Bicchieri” award, one of just 13 Verdicchio from the Marche to receive the award.
