Winemaker Notes
The 2013 harvest will be remembered as a true "vintage" year, with picking operations beginning, on average, 15 days later than the previous 10 years and ending in early November with the last bunches of Nebbiolo. The vine's vegetative cycle began with a sluggish start to spring and low average temperatures in March and April. In June, weather conditions gradually improved, leading to a highly positive July for vine physiology, partly due to greater meteorological stability. Flowering occurred as usual in the second ten days of June, followed by good berry set. The combination of good berry set and adequate water availability benefited cluster development, resulting in larger, heavier, and more compact clusters compared to recent vintages. Nebbiolo benefited the most towards the end of the season, enjoying the high temperatures recorded in September and October. These conditions were perfect for developing its phenolic profile, producing wines suited for aging. From August through the harvest, the climate was ideal for phenolic synthesis, with hot, bright days accompanied by cool nights, especially from mid-September onward. This led to well-structured, long-lasting wines, making 2013 an excellent vintage.
Food & Wine Pairing
This wine is the perfect match with the rich cuisine of Piedmont. Excellent with roasted red meats, braised game, truffle dishes, aged cheeses. Refined wine for meditation and conversation, to taste slowly and slowly. Serving temperature 18 to 20°C.
