Vetrère
Vetrère was founded in 1938 on behalf of Enrico Bruni, who, with great foresight, resumed wine production in the Vetrere district in Montemesola, a small village in the renowned town of Taranto. As a result, the company grew in Puglia, a land lapped by two seas.
Enrico stood out for his extensive research. He was a pioneer of techniques and styles that would become trends in the years to come. However, he was also very attentive and sensitive to human values. His collaborators stayed with him every step of the way and he showed great care and attention to each of them in return.
Today, the company is entirely female-run and managed by his daughters, Annamaria and Francesca, along with their daughters, Enrica, Fany, and Martina, the latter being a young oenologist in the wine industry.
Annamaria and Francesca inherited the company at a young age, but they never abandoned their studies, thereby perfecting their knowledge of oenology. Annamaria followed in her father's footsteps and began to experiment with new techniques and new grapes. First and foremost, the Minutolo. In a region famous for its red grapes, such as Negroamaro and Primitivo, Vetrere focuses on this small, delicate, semi-aromatic grape with notes of liquorice and a bitter almond finish, catering to the Northern European market, which is particularly attuned to this variety.
Today, the company strictly operates under organic practices and manages 50 hectares of vineyards, all surrounding the winery. This ensures the grapes – harvested at night – enter the production process within just a few minutes, thereby preserving their integrity.
In addition to the Minutolo, the company produces excellent red wines, thereby maintaining the tradition of Primitivo and Negroamaro. These are wines with very distinct traits, because the fruit needs to be recognizable.
In a 17th-century cellar, the most advanced oenological technologies are used to craft elegant wines, whilst ensuring that care and attention begin in the vineyards. Therefore, along with all the agronomic techniques, Vetrere wines are carefully managed in the cellar, where controlled-temperature fermentation is used.
Vetrere produces special wines, thanks to its long history and a uniquely feminine sensitivity.
